Watch Andy & Sasy perform live at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Sunday, October 8th later this fall! In addition, the duo will be supported by none other than Iranian breakout group X band, famous for hits like “Daddy Shekari,” “Acid,” and “Cheshm Baste.”
Andranik Madadian is an Iranian-Armenian singer and actor who performs under the stage name “Andy.” Nicknamed the “Persian Bono,” Andy has participated in major humanitarian efforts while collaborating with high-profile singers La Toya Jackson, Ritchie Sambora, Jon Bon Jovi, and more.
Just recently, his name was added to the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame, celebrating his iconic contributions and accomplishments in the genre. According to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the “Prince of Persian Pop” has made history as the very first Iranian singer to earn a star on the Walk.
Despite spending much of his life in the United States, Andy is still insanely popular in Iran, where it is literally against the law to listen to his music. He goes on to mention how his work is especially criticized due to his music style being too sexy and Americanized. “That music is definitely banned but people were persistent, it shows that you cannot stop music,” he shares. Also, regardless of how strict the government enforces its laws, he emphasizes how dedicated people will always find ways to listen to it.
Co-headlining the event, Sasan Yafte, better known by his stage name “Sasy,” is a fellow Iranian pop singer-songwriter born in the late eighties in Ahvaz, Khuzestan. The artist instantly gained fame from his trending “Gentleman” video which earned recognition from the news agency Reuters. From there, he was labeled as one of Iran's best upcoming underground rap singers, bringing to life some of the greatest hits on the radio today such as “Doctor,” “Hali Hali,” “Che Pesari,” and the controversial “Tehran Tokyo.”
The grand Queen Elizabeth Theatre was originally built as one of four major facilities operated under the Vancouver Civic Theatres in Canada. Now, it is internationally known for its top-tier staging technology and great acoustics that amp up each live performance. Book your seats today!
