The environmentalist turned pop artist Griff Washburn is bringing Goth Babe to Vancouver! He’s bringing the Lola Tour to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Thursday 3rd October 2024.
The Lola Tour comes in celebration of his hotly awaited 11-track album Lola. Released on January 26th, Goth Babe gave listeners the lust for adventure with feel good tracks like “Bioluminescence.” Fun fact: Lola was named after his sailing boat that he lives in (and sailed 1,200 miles down the Pacific to Mexico!!).
In his first album, Washburn expands the Goth Babe style beyond a single sound, but maintains a danceable, feel-good psych pop feeling. “Album opener “Neon Trees” offers a gooey sonic preview, gradually mounting layers of programmed percussion, guitar and electronics while Washburn’s voice echoes up top.” - Paste Magazine

"Goth Babe is Griff Washburn enjoying himself," states the artist's Spotify bio. Washburn is an environmentalist turned pop musician who is bringing a completely unique perspective to life. He uses his zest for life as the driving force behind his feel-good tracks. From standout psychedelic pop tunes like "Early Mornings," "Topanga," and "Sometimes" to the festival-ready anthem "Weekend Friend," Goth Babe has cultivated a sound that sits between the dreamy vibes of Gold Panda and the polished brilliance of Miike Snow.
Drawing inspiration from beachy psych-surf giants like Surf Curse and Ty Segall, Washburn kicked off his journey in the scene alongside his skateboarding buddies. Their collaboration resulted in the Fuzz Ghost EP, released on the now-defunct Richmond tape label Ongakubaka Records.
After leaving the college scene in Nashville, Washburn embraced a wanderlust-filled lifestyle. He explored cities like New York and Los Angeles before fully committing to the nomadic life. He crafted a tiny house in the Portland countryside for himself and his dog (Sadie), but faced a setback when it tragically burned down. Undeterred, he took his nomadic lifestyle to new heights, mastering sailing and embarking on a 1,200-mile Pacific journey to Mexico with Sadie by his side. Naming his sailboat Lola, the album is a compilation of tracks born from this incredible voyage.

The Lola Tour follows the release of this hotly awaited 11-track album which dropped on Mom + Pop Music on January 26th. Lola features synth-rich tracks like "Bioluminescence," that inspire a love for adventure and encourage listeners to embrace the wonders of wanderlust.
