Ray LaMontagne at Queen Elizabeth Theatre

Ray LaMontagne is one of the industry's finest folk-rock musicians. Throughout his career, he has released an incredible 8 albums, the music of which has been instrumental in pop culture, having been featured in the hit TV series One Tree Hill, ER, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, as well as the movies I Love You, Man, The Conspirator, and She’s the Man.

Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on June 18, 1973, he was raised by his mother as part of a family of six children. From the outset, Ray was much more interested in the arts than typical education, and after graduation, he moved to Maine, where he found a job in a shoe factory. One morning, as he woke up, he heard a Stephen Mills record, and inspired by it, he decided to pursue a career in music. So in 1999, he made the move to become a performer while working part-time as a tutor.

His life changed after a chance meeting with businessman Ron Clayton. Clayton introduced him to Chrysalis Music Publishing, and by 2004, he had released his first album, Trouble. The album not only did well in the USA, selling over 250,000 copies, but also had huge international success, moving over 500,000 copies.

LaMontagne went on to release a further seven albums, Till the Sun Turns Black, Gossip in the Grain, God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise, Supernova, Ouroboros, Part of the Light, and Monovision, from 2006 to 2020. Some notable mentions are for his second and third albums, which peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard album chart and No. 3 on that same chart, respectively.

He also donates his time and talent to charitable causes by playing at benefit concerts like KYSR's Lounge for Life and donating his guitar to the event's auction. The entire amount raised was given to breast cancer research. In addition, he helped organize a fundraiser for the Nashville, Tennessee, flood victims.

His music has been compared to that of Van Morrison, Ryan Adams, Otis Redding, and even Pink Floyd, and to really enjoy it, you have to witness him perform live. Be sure to get your tickets on this page before they sell out.
