The beloved comic has been a global sensation. With Netflix specials under his name, including "Asian Comedian Destroys America!", his stand-up performances have become a hit. He also starred in various films such as "Crazy Rich Asians", Marvel's "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings", "American Born Chinese", "M3GAN", "Joy Ride", and many more. Following some initial uncertainty, he's now confirmed his upcoming Hulu release, "Inferior Chinatown".
Ronny Chieng proudly represents the Asian-American community, with his body of work making an impact on social issues that need to be talked about. People around the globe have tuned in and become inspired by his dedication to raising awareness, albeit integrated into his comedy-gold spiels. "You want these stories to be told and you don't think anyone else is doing them," he shared in an interview with Esquire. "We need to talk about these issues, because if I don't talk about it, no one else is going to talk about it, or no one's going to care in the way that I care about it," explaining how The Daily Show team respects and supports the stories he chooses to highlight on the program.
It all began at at 2013 comedy festival in Melbourne, performing alongside Trevor Noah. By 2015, he was asked to audition for The Daily Show, and the rest was history. In 2016, he co-wrote and starred in "Ronny Chieng: International Student", his own sitcom inspired by his experience as a Malaysian living in Australia. From then on, the world was hooked. With film appearances and Netflix specials, he's no stranger in the global eye.
